Netflix India has announced its most ambitious original content slate yet: 10 original feature films scheduled for 2027, featuring some of the most celebrated directors in contemporary Indian cinema.
The Lineup
Confirmed projects include a crime thriller by Anurag Kashyap, a romantic drama by Zoya Akhtar set in Bombay's music scene, and a science fiction film by Vikramaditya Motwane. Four additional projects remain unannounced but are expected to involve major stars.
Investment Scale
Netflix is committing approximately ₹800 crore to the slate — its largest single-year investment in Indian originals to date. The company has been aggressively expanding its India production budget following strong subscriber growth.
Competition Context
The announcement comes as Amazon Prime Video and JioCinema have both significantly increased their Indian content investments. Netflix India's subscriber base crossed 10 million in Q2 2026, driven largely by the success of regional-language content.
